Whew! I just broke free of some sort of mental stupor. What? Am I entering early stage dimentia? Have you ever bogged down to the point of a lathargic state whereby you seemed to be waltzing through quicksand? If not, you’ve just gotta try it sometime. No, but really, how does one break out of a slump?

  • Start by writing down reasons why you are in such a state. Not getting enough sleep? Diet messed up? Haven’t been out since the moon landing (it was real, right?).
  • Then you have to come up with a list of mind and body stimulants (legal and safe, folks) that, while seemingly small, can collectively have a powerful effect.
  • One way to stimulate your mind is by way of brain teasers for adults. In addition, there are many mind games online beyond that, which we can play.

    Smart Goals – Inch By Inch It’s A Cinch

    So, another year over. And a new once just begun. So goes that John Lennon, “So This Is Christmas” song. Or, something like that.

    But, are you going to blow it again?

    The goal seems daunting, doesn’t it? Well, that’s probably because you aren’t eyeing the small picture. Forget, for a second, dwelling on the big picture and instead think only of the step you need to do now. Now, if you can do that step than all the other steps are really no harder. It’s just a matter of sticking with it.

    So, break it down into baby steps. Now, do that step today. If you were not able to complete the task by the end of the day, take that as your cue to cut that step into 2 and do one tomorrow.

    If you do this, you will stick with it. 365 baby steps is quite some distance. If you instead try to do it all at once or in a few chunks you are going to burn out. Slow and steady wins the race. Besides, it’s not just about winning the race it’s about WINNING THE JOURNEY, today.

    Life is all about today, not the end point.

    If you think of pushing but one domino down, the rest will take care of themselves. However, in life each domino will require a slight tap, yet is never any harder than the prior tap.
