Some Affirmations Are Already On
The Subliminal Software
He has his own affirmations added
to the subliminal software program. You can check them out (turn the
type to white and make the message last long enough to read them -
See the tool's Preferences option).
While none are "bad" or conniving (he doesn't say "Buy all my
products", etc.), I don't care for some.
- "I focus on my goals?" We do that automatically or they aren't
goals worth pursuing. This is one thing I don't get, with regards to
mind development, get rich books. They put a whole lot of time
saying "You need goals. Fixate on those goals!" I find it hard to
believe people aren't already doing that - and way too much, when
they should be DOING, instead of DREAMING.
- "I give thanks each day?" Give me a break. There was a movie
entitled, "Christmas Every Day" or something. I guess he thinks it's
Thanksgiving everyday!
- "I easily attract money?" Voodo. I prefer to deal with the real
world. How does your mind implement this? It's too vague and not
implementable.
- "I am grateful just to be alive"? Come on. You don't need to be
convinced OR you have bigger problems that can't be solved by this
software tool. Besides, there are better affirmations to focus on
that encompass this inherently. Simplify!
- "Happiness is attracted to me"? What? Is Happiness a person?
- "I am aware of my feelings." so what? I am aware that I feel bad.
And that helps me how? Besdies, aren't we all aware of our feelings?
Unless we have NO feelings. That is the nature of FEELings, you feel
them. You don't need to seek them out, they hit you over the head
with a sledge hammer.
- "I appreciate the good things in life." Who needs to be told this?
If you don't appreciate the things in your life, this affirmation
won't change that.
I guess the acid test of an affirmation is whether you could tell a
friend it with a straight face and not get an odd glare.
We should not have too many affirmations. We want to simplify. We
should fixate on the CRUX ones.
Mix Of Strategies Implemented
Simultaneously
Now, we may question if subliminals
are effective. Fine. But, the way I look at it is: I try to do as
many things as possible that are free and do no harm, and MIGHT
help. Because many things that make minute improvements equate to a
big improvement.
Knowing that you are doing many things toward the objective of
self-improvement has a beneficial affect, as well. Something has to
stick, right!
Types Of Affirmations
Don't bother with affirmations that
are skill based, such as "I am a good writer." This won't make you a
good writer it'll just make you THINK you are (i.e. DELUSIONAL - and
we have enough of those types running around!).
It would not be too bad to be accused of being delusional if you say
"I am energetic!" That's the sort of delusion we can have - a state
of mind.
Forget most objective oriented stated as if you have the
characteristic or lifestyle now. For example, "I am a millionaire",
"I am a great basketball player." Instead fixate on attitude and
mind state creation, eg, "I am ENERGETIC", "I am RELAXED" or, "I get
things done fast."
States of mind can be developed without requiring years of
effort. However, to become a great basketball player will require
INATE, raw talent, height, and years of practice. And, that is not
close to being enough!
Having an optimal state of mind is about the best we can do to
engender change in the near term.
Stick with affirmations that are reasonable, feasible, and can be
acquired in reasonable time.
When you write the affirmations,
take heed of these tips:
- Use exclamation points (!), where
appropriate!
- Keep your affirmations short (one sentence) and about 50 words (at
least for this software program).
Subliminals- Wrap Up
If we really believe something will
work, it has a better shot of working. We have to choose our own
placeboS. Notice, the plural emphasis. Don't rely on one
solution! Find what works for you. Maybe coffee, tea, a walk around
the block, prayer, affirmations, etc.
Some will say, "Oh, why not just 'believe in yourself' or whatever.
EVeryone has their own placebo, you have to choose your own. It
works for them, but perhaps not you.
Everyone has it easier at some things than other people. We have
different strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, a person who has an
easy time doing things xyz way might think EVERYONE should do it
THAT way and it should be AS EASY for them.
However, they owe the ease with
which they do it largely to INATE ATTRIBUTES, upbringing and chance
encounters (randomness)! Of course, practice helps, too! And, I bet
you have things you can do with ease, that they can't. Or, you have
found that certain methods are effective for YOU, but not them.
So, for the moment, I see
subliminals as having more of a potential PLACEBO affect. But, since
we think it might work it would beat taking a sugar pill placebo, if
you are aware it is just a sugar pill. I mean we think the odds a
subliminal message works on us is greater than the odds a sugar pill
will.
